DESCRIPTION:
“‘Fun Home’ is pure musical satisfaction.”—Washington Post
Dorothy’s Friends Theatre Company (DFTC) proudly presents Fun Home, a fully student-produced and -performed theatrical event. Based on the autobiographical graphic novel by Alison Bechdel, Fun Home is a musical by Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori about self-discovery and self-acceptance. An exploration of the journey to accepting one’s own queer identity, Fun Home showcases the vulnerable and fulfilling process of living as one’s authentic self. This production of Fun Home offers a university-wide opportunity for students to actively participate in the creation of a full-scale artistic event, as well as a space for the entire USC community to connect with LGBTQ+ experiences. The performance will be followed by a discussion about the importance of representation in popular media, and what today’s queer communities can learn from the past.
Fun Home is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.
