A story about revolution, Andor focuses on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make in the galaxy. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how diverse peoples and worlds became involved. It is an era filled with danger, deception, and intrigue where Cassian embarks on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.
This event is presented as part of a series of screenings and conversations that brings together writers and producers who have collaborated with SCA alumnus George Lucas to create one of the most important expressions of global popular culture of all time. Founding Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Luis Moreno Ocampo and Joseph Campbell Endowed Chair in Cinematic Ethics Ted Braun examine how the Star Wars films and series created by George Lucas have explored, articulated, and shaped global ideas of war, justice, and democracy in the 21st century.
Guest Bios:
Tony Gilroy (Creator, Writer, Executive Producer, Showrunner) is the creator of Lucasfilm’s critically acclaimed series ANDOR, which premiered its second season on Disney+ in April 2025 and garnered 14 Emmy Award nominations including Gilroy’s two nominations in Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. The Peabody Award–winning first season premiered in 2022 and was nominated for eight Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series.
Luis Moreno Ocampo was the Founding Chief Prosecutor of the new and permanent International Criminal Court (2003–12). There are seven documentaries presenting parts of his work at the ICC, including Darfur Now and Kony 2012. Previously, he had a critical role during the transition to democracy in Argentina. He was Deputy Prosecutor in the trial against the "Military Junta," a case depicted in the Amazon production, Argentina 1985, a 2023 Academy Award nominee for Best International Feature Film and the 2023 Golden Globe winner.
Writer-director Ted Braun is a School of Cinematic Arts professor and the Joseph Campbell Endowed Chair in Cinematic Ethics. His feature documentary, ¡Viva Maestro!, about conductor Gustavo Dudamel, was nominated for the WGA award for best feature documentary of 2022 and is streaming on HBO MAX. Set against violence and unrest in Dudamel’s home of Venezuela the film is an exploration of art in a time of political crisis. It’s his second film with Participant which co-financed his feature debut Darfur Now. Darfur Now was named one of 2007’s top five documentaries by the National Board of Review and the Broadcast Critics and won the NAACP Image Award for best feature documentary and the International Documentary Association’s Emerging Filmmaker Award.
