DESCRIPTION:
“If every musical had the brains, heart, and courage of Wicked, Broadway really would be a magical place.”—TIME Magazine
USC students are invited to attend a performance of Wicked, followed by a Q&A with the cast, including USC alum Kayla Goldsberry (Kaufman School of Dance, Class of 2023).
From the first electrifying note to the final breathtaking moment, the Broadway sensation transfixes audiences with its wildly inventive story about what happened of the Witches of Oz, shown from a different angle than the tale told in the classic movie starring Judy Garland.
Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another young woman, born with emerald-green skin—smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships until the world decides to call one “good,” and the other one “wicked.”
Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and book by Winnie Holzman, Wicked has been declared “the best musical of the decade” by Entertainment Weekly and “a cultural phenomenon” by Variety.
Presented by USC Visions and Voices.
