Actor and dancer Harry Shum Jr. is best known for his roles as Mike Chang in Glee and Magnus Bane in Shadowhunters. He has consistently created complex and meaningful characters, bringing depth and magnetic energy to the screen. His numerous credits include Crazy Rich Asians, All My Life, and viral web shorts for Wong Fu Productions, and he has danced on tour and in videos for the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, and Destiny’s Child.
Shum will join Pulitzer Prize–winning author and USC professor Viet Thanh Nguyen for a wide-ranging conversation about his career in entertainment, advocacy work for children and against racism, Asian Americans in the performing arts, the importance of generational storytelling, and more. The event will be presented as part of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and feature an introduction by USC President Carol L. Folt.
