DESCRIPTION:
Are any of us safe from environmental harm if we allow communities within our midst to become wastelands? Join a collective of environmental justice advocates from Esperanza Community Housing’s People Not Pozos campaign and USC performers as they explore this pressing question in a workshop presentation of Sacrifice Zone: Los Angeles. In the collaborative, interactive, and original documentary theatre project directed by Fran de Leon, the artists and activists will address climate change, illuminate our city’s sacrifice zones (places that have been devastated by oil drilling and industrial toxins), and elevate the work of local residents who are fighting to change that reality.
Presented by Arts in Action, part of USC Visions and Voices: The Arts and Humanities Initiative. Organized by Paula Cizmar (Dramatic Arts), Michael Bodie (Cinematic Arts), and Jill Johnston (Keck School of Medicine) in partnership with People Not Pozos.
