DESCRIPTION:
Political commentator and activist Hasan Piker—one of the most viewed streamers on the Twitch platform, where he has 2.6 million followers—will stream live from USC’s Bovard Auditorium. With an in-house audience, Piker will dive into a wide array of topics ranging from politics and the presidential election to his unique career path, breaking down capitalism, the manosphere, and more. The program will include a Q&A.
Piker’s commentary on the 2020 U.S. presidential election was in the top six most-watched sources of coverage online, and his coverage of the January 6 attack on the Capitol reached a concurrent viewership of 231,000 viewers. In October 2020, he streamed himself playing video games with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar in support of the Get Out the Vote initiative.
Raised in Istanbul, Turkey, Hasan Piker is a Los Angeles–based media personality known for his unique perspective on American politics, sharp analysis of trending news and culture, and ubiquitous streaming. His honesty, personality, and deep understanding of the subjects he covers makes him one of the leading political voices for millennials and Gen Z. He began his career as a journalist for The Young Turks and has proven himself to be a prominent figure with young American Progressives, supporting the 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns of Senator Bernie Sanders and working with organizations such as Muslims for Progressive Values, March for Our Lives, and Black Lives Matter. An early adopter of the popular gaming and streaming site Twitch, Piker livestreams daily to an average audience of over 20,000, making his the platform’s most popular “Just Chatting” channel.
