DESCRIPTION:
Can stories spoken thousands of years ago help today’s veterans process their experiences of warfare? Join the Los Angeles Veterans Collaborative and USC scholars for a very special evening of performance that will make connections between classical literature and contemporary America, and explore the injustices and stigmas that veterans face while preparing for, engaging in, and coming home from war. A conversation will follow with the Warrior Bards performance team, moderated by Professor William Thalmann of USC Dornsife and Nathan Graeser of the Los Angeles Veterans Collaborative.

Warrior Bards is a unique project that gives veterans the opportunity to study selected Ancient Greek dramas, discuss them in light of their own experiences, and create new performances from their discoveries as a group. Guided by scholars and artists both in and outside the veteran community, the Warrior Bards project seeks to forge a bridge of understanding between the veteran community and the broader American public.

Presented by USC Arts in Action, part of USC Visions and Voices: The Arts and Humanities Initiative.
