DESCRIPTION:
The Medical Humanities, Arts, and Ethics Series engages core issues facing the health of individuals and society. Focusing on race and health in America, the series will feature Dr. Camara Jones, the immediate past president of the American Public Health Association. Dr. Jones will discuss her research on the structural causes of unequal race-associated health outcomes. Her remarkable “illustrated” tales about racism and the barriers to health equity foster dialogue, enhance understanding, and inspire advocacy to end racism and injustice in health care. Jones is a senior fellow at the Satcher Health Leadership Institute and the Cardiovascular Research Institute at the Morehouse School of Medicine. She previously served as an assistant professor at the Harvard School of Public Health and a medical officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
