DESCRIPTION:
What are the ethical implications of representing sociopolitical realities in animation? And how can you use the latest web technologies to do it? Colombian animator Juan Camilo González will offer a hands-on workshop on data-driven animation. You’ll learn about tools that can transform statistical data on social issues into interactive visualizations and real-time web animations so that you can use animation as a tool for social change.

No programming or animation experience is required. Dancers, musicians, writers, filmmakers, animators, game designers, visual artists, engineers, and all others interested in the creative representation of “reality” are welcome to participate.
