DESCRIPTION:
Charles “Lil Buck” Riley brought international attention to the street dance Memphis jookin’ in 2011 when a video of his improvised performance with cellist Yo-Yo Ma—who declared Lil Buck a “genius”—went viral on YouTube. Since then, he’s blown audiences away performing with Madonna at the Super Bowl, New York City Ballet, and Cirque du Soleil. Now is your chance to learn jookin’ from Lil Buck himself. In a wildly fun, high-energy workshop, Lil Buck will instruct participants in jookin’, the art of improvisation, and more.

Lil Buck began jookin’ at age thirteen alongside mentors Marico Flake and Daniel Price. Trained in hip hop and ballet, he was named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” in 2012, and has collaborated with renowned artists including Janelle Monáe, JR, New York City Ballet, Yo-Yo Ma, and Madonna. Lil Buck served as an artistic ambassador at the US-China Forum on the Arts and Culture, and performed in Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson: ONE
