CANCELED—EMPOWER: Council and Clowning Workshop
EMPOWER: Arts and Well-Being Workshops for Students
Council and Clowning Workshop
An Arts in Action Project
ADMISSION:
Sessions are free and open to USC students only.
Space is limited.
No prior art or performance experience required.
Light refreshments will be served.
DESCRIPTION:
We all have stories, voices, and gifts to share. But when dealing with the challenges and stress of being students, we often lose sight of this.
Share your experiences and connect with others in a new series of workshops that use Council, a group practice rooted in empathic listening and speaking from the heart. Facilitated by USC professors Alison Trope (Communication) and Holly Willis (Cinematic Arts), the workshops will help you find joy and support through student-led storytelling and creative expression. Each workshop will feature acclaimed artists in dance, theatre, and the visual arts, who will inspire instinctive creativity and build community.
The Council and Clowning Workshop will be facilitated by USC's Medical Clowning Team, which was formed by USC School of Dramatic Arts professor Zachary Steel after he witnessed the healing powers of laughter firsthand when studying medical clowning in Israel.
